Where Do You Want To Go?

Do not place any household garbage; tires; roofing material; chemicals, such as paint, solvents, herbicides, etc.; asbestos; and any food containers at roadside to be removed by city vehicles. Contractors are responsible for removing all debris from project sites.

The City does not pick up household trash except during designated clean up periods authorized by the City Council. These scheduled pick ups will be published on this site and in the local news media. The city will pick up limbs, brush, and leaves.

Trash and Waste Removal is located at Valley City Hall. For questions or information, please contact Laurinda Pascal at (334) 756-5244.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q
ARE BANK DRAFT PAYMENTS ACCEPTED?
A

Yes. Application forms are available at City Hall - please note: a voided check must be provided to process.

Q
ARE THERE ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE DISPOSED OF THROUGH THIS SERVICE?
A

Yes. Any hazardous items: tires, cans of paint, batteries, etc. Residents must dispose of such items at landfills that accept them. Also, the contractor or the resident must dispose of any construction materials or debris. Mr. Greenjeans is not responsible for disposal of construction debris.

Q
HOW ARE PAYMENTS MADE?
A

Payments for garbage collection may be made at City Hall Monday through Friday from 8am - 5pm; they may be mailed in or may be left in the drop box outside the front of City Hall anytime.

Q
IF I MOVE DO I NEED TO CANCEL MY SERVICE?
A

Yes! Service must be canceled with us - otherwise it will continue to be billed to you and you will be responsible for payment. To close service, please bring a valid ID to City Hall and sign a form to cancel your service.

Q
IS THERE A LIMIT ON THE WEEKLY DEBRIS PICK-UP?
A

Yes. The weekly limit is 10 cubic yards, which is approximately a 6' x 6' x 6' cube. If debris is over the limit, part will be picked up and more will be picked up in 2 weeks when debris is picked up again for your route.

Q
WHAT IS CONSIDERED "MIXED DEBRIS"?
A

Bulkier items like old furniture, swing sets, appliances, boxes, etc.

Q
WHAT IS CONSIDERED "YARD DEBRIS"?
A

Limbs, leaves, and brush clippings. If leaves are bagged in plastic bags, they will be picked up on the "Mixed Debris" week due to landfill restrictions. Mr. Greenjeans will not pick up tree stumps or large trees that have been cut down, only limbs that have been trimmed or that have fallen from trees. Limbs should not exceed 5 inches in diameter or 6 feet in length in order for Mr. Greenjeans to pick them up.

*Note: If a "Licensed Yard Service" does the work they are responsible for taking the yard debris to the landfill.

Q
WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO HAVE MY GARBAGE CAN AND DEBRIS?
A

The trucks may run as early as 7:00 AM, so we recommend putting all trash and debris out the evening before your scheduled pick-up day.

Q
WHEN IS DEBRIS PICKED UP?
A

Mixed Debris and Yard Debris are picked up on rotating weekly basis (1 week is yard debris, the next is mixed debris, etc) A separate truck picks up debris the same day your household garbage is picked up. **Trash Pick-up Schedule**

Q
WHEN IS MY GARBAGE CAN EMPTIED?
A

Garbage cans are emptied once a week. The day of the week depends on the area of the city in which you live. Please contact Environmental Services at 334-756-5244 if you are unsure of your pick-up day.
