April 28th City Council Meeting

At the Monday night City Council meeting, Chief Michael Taylor presented Terry Wood of the Chambers County Sheriff's Department with a letter of commendation for his assistance in apprehending a fugitive from justice. Along with his canine partner, Officer Wood responded to a mutual aid request by Valley Police Officers who were in pursuit of the fugitive who was wanted for several felony crimes in the state of Georgia. Chief Taylor read from the commendation - "Your initiative and tireless efforts in challenging terrain is indicative of your self-discipline and commitment to the police profession. Your dedication to duty brings great credit upon yourself and the Chambers County Sheriff's Department."

Valley High School's Prom Committee thanked the City of Valley and the City's Parks and Recreation Department for the use of the Community Center for the 2008 Junior-Senior Prom. The committee presented the Mayor and City Council and Parks and Recreation Department Head Suellen Snowden with plaques; the committee presented City Administrator Tim Bryan with a framed certificate for his help and assistance. This was the first time the Junior-Senior Prom had been held at the Community Center, but from the positive feedback received, it will not be the last time.
