Valley is committed to excellence in education realizing that for its children to compete in the globalized climate of today, they must have a quality education. Though the City of Valley does not have its own school system, we work hand in hand with the officials of the County Board of Education to ensure that the quality of education that our children receive is of the highest standards. Valley is also committed to seeing that it citizens, both young and old, who have special needs have an educational opportunity.
The City of Valley has one high school,
Valley High School, that serves grades 9-12. There is one junior high school for grades 6-8,
W.F. Burns Middle School and 3 elementary schools for grades K-5;
LaFayette Lanier Elementary ,
Fairfax Elementary, and
Bob Harding Shawmut Elementary. There are also 2 Christian schools – Arts Academy and Temple Christian School. In addition to these K-12 schools, there is a 2 year division of
Southern Union State Community College. Valley, AL. is the home of
Valley Haven School, which is the area school for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and for adults with severe handicapping conditions. In addition, the county library, the
H. Grady Bradshaw Chambers County Library, is located in the Shawmut community of the City of Valley.
