2006 Merry-Go-Round
2006 is the 50th year celebration of Valley's Christmas Merry-Go-Round. Started in 1956 by West Point Pepperell, an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 people will visit the Merry-Go-Round during its two-week run. In 1996, the Merry-Go-Round celebrated its millionth rider. In the 1990s, the City of Valley began to help sponsor the Merry-Go-Round with then, West Point Stevens. Four workers from the Valley Parks and Recreation Department, along with high school students hired for the season, run the Merry-Go-Round during its two-weeks of operations. The Christmas Merry-Go-Round has become a tradition for families in and around Valley. Children that grew up riding the Merry-Go-Round each year, now have families of their own and carry on the tradition by bringing their children to ride the magical Christmas Merry-Go-Round in Valley, Alabama. If Valley's Christmas Merry-Go-Round is not a part of your family's Christmas tradition, come on to Valley, join in the fun, and make it a part of your family's Christmas tradition.
