The 8th annual Relay For Life was held from 7PM Friday, June 20th until 7AM Saturday, June 21st at Ram Stadium with 22 fund-raising teams involved and hundreds in attendance. Kasey Dewberry, chairperson for the event, said that $102,000 was raised and the top fund-raising honors went to Carolyn Lott's CPA team. John Lott was entertainment coordinator of the event. A "Woman-less Beauty Pageant", narrated by Kirstin Nelson of the Valley Police Department, was held at 1.30AM with Jonathan "Hootie" Deloach winning the crown. In addition to the beauty pageant, a slide presentation was shown during the night and luminaries and torches were lit to honor both survivors and those who lost their battle with cancer.
