The Planning and Development Department’s main responsibilities are administering the Zoning Ordinance and overseeing the Solid Waste program.  This is done through the permitting process, making sure land uses are allowed and building codes are followed. In addition, the Department also works with the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustments on request for annexations, zoning changes, subdivisions, variances and special exceptions. We also oversee the City Cemeteries, handle plot sales and make sure the Cemetery Rules are followed.
