Environmental Services

Since our creation in 2002, we have seen many changes in the quality of life our residents enjoy. Our mission is  to promote a safe and healthy community for the citizens of Valley  and we accomplish this mission by operating in different areas, all working toward the same goal.

Patrick Bolt is the supervisor for Environmental Services. There are 2 Building Inspectors, Reid Riley and Dean Danford and 2 Code Enforcement Officials, Vic Anthony and Henry Bledsoe. 

Within Environmental Services, are two departments. Our Code Enforcement department enforces city ordinances that promote a safe and healthy environment for the citizens of Valley. The Environmental Services Investigator is responsible for ensuring that ordinances dealing with illegal dumping, junk vehicles, dilapidated structures, overgrown and junky yards, and participation in garbage collection are adhered to. We have seen great results in the Code Enforcement area and we will continue working toward improving the environment for our citizens.

The other department in Environmental Services is Solid Waste. This department handles the billing of solid waste collection that is done on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis and payments may be mailed in or made at City Hall. The collection of solid waste is contracted through Mr. Greenjeans of LaGrange, GA. Our partnership with Mr. Greenjeans allows the City of Valley to provide household garbage collection with more features and lower costs than any community in the area. In October of 2005, the City began a new service that is included in the present garbage service. Mr. Greenjeans now also picks up yard debris (limbs, leaves, brush clippings) and mixed debris (old furniture, appliances, bulky items) on an alternating weekly basis. Now, on the day when your regular household garbage is picked up, a separate truck will also pick up yard debris or mixed debris that is placed at curbside.

For your convenience, we have a NIghtTime Drop Box , located at the front of City Hall, to make payments after business hours. We also offer AUTOMATIC DEBIT - have your bill debited directly from you checking account. Come in and find out the details.
