I was born in my grandparents home in 1946 on what used to be Georgia Avenue. I have many memories from Shawmutt; I attended Shawmutt kindergarten, went to the old theater down on the circle, watched the retirees playing dominoes, drank sodas at the drug store, checked PO box 90 for mail, then walking up the boulevard and climbing the magnolias along the way.
My grandparents are buried in Shawmut and Lanett cemeteries and I don't get down there often enough to visit.
