December 3rd City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its first regular scheduled meeting of December on Monday, December 3rd, 2018, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

Mayor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. The invocation was given by Councilmember Henry Cooper and Councilmember Jimmy Gilson led the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.

Prior to official council business, a public hearing was held on amending the City Zoning Ordinance-Special Exception for C-1 and C-2 Residential Use.

The December 3rd financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance......................... $2,773,663.58
  • Total deposits all funds................................................... $501,063.59
  • Total expenditures all funds............................................. $33,042.39
  • Total on-hand all funds................................................ $3,241,684.78

The following actions were taken by the city council at the December 3rd meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from November 26th, 2018, council meeting
  • Accepted the December 3rd financial audit report
  • Approved unanimously the following resolutions on the Consent Agenda with the exceptions of Resolutions 2018-168R and 2018-169R that were voided
    • Resolution 2018-176R authorizing Mayor Riley to enter into contract with Harris Gray, LLC to provide engineering services for 2019
    • Resolution 2018-177R authorizing Mayor Riley to enter into contract with Community Consultants Incorporated to provide professional services for the City’s ADECA Recreational Trails Program Project Grant
    • Resolution 2018-178R authorizing Mayor Riley to enter into contract with PPM Consultants, Inc. to provide services for the City’s Brownfields Program focusing primarily on the Fairfax Mill Property
    • Resolution 2018-179R authorizing the use of Harris Gray, LLC to provide engineering services for the City’s ADECA Recreational Trails Program Project Grant
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 2018-180R authorizing the cutting and sale of timber at the Fairview Cemetery for the purpose of expanding the cemetery
  • Had the first reading of Ordinance 2018-24 amending the City’s Zoning Ordinance to include a Special Exception for C-1 and C-2 Residential Use

The mayor made the following announcements:

        1. Next Council Meeting will be December 17th at 6:00pm at Valley City Hall
        2. Effective January 1st, the 2019 Issuance Fee for Business Licenses will increase from  $10 to $12
        3. Valley City Hall will be closed December 24-25 for Christmas Holidays and January 1st for New Years

Council adjourned at 6:14 PM.
