December 5th City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its first meeting of December on Monday, December 5, 2016, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

Mayor Leonard Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. The invocation was given by Councilmember Henry Cooper and Councilmember Jimmy Gilson led the Pledge of Allegiance.

All councilmembers were present.

The December 5th financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance.................. $4,136,538.06
  • Total deposits all funds............................................ $314,122.92
  • Total expenditures all funds.................................... $290,372.56
  • Total on-hand all funds......................................... $4,160,288.42

 

Mayor Riley called for a public hearing to be held at the December 12th council meeting to confirm costs of demolition at 1018 Foster Circle and 202 Crestview Lane.

The following actions were taken by the city council at the December 5th meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from the November 28th council meeting
  • Accepted the December 5th financial audit report
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 16-165R denying the claim by Deidre Dunn
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 16-166R acknowledging the tax exempt status of East Alabama Water, Sewer & Fire Protection District
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 16-167R amending the Valley Police Department FY Budget 2017 by $16,575 for insurance recoveries
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 16-168R amending the Valley Police Department FY Budget 2017 by $4,353.75 for donations received from Ajin ($1,250) and Wooshin ($500) and rebate from 2017 Calendars ($2,603.75)
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 16-169R amending the Valley EMS Department FY Budget 2017 by $1,750. for donations received from Ajin ($1,250) and Wooshin ($500)
  • Approved unanimously Resolution 16-170R authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission to provide funding for meals and transportation for the Valley Senior Center
  • Passed unanimously Ordinance 16-14 on its 2nd reading designating the Valley EMS as the Medical Service for emergency and non-emergency calls within the city limits and establishing rules and regulations for private and municipal emergency and non-emergency transport vehicles in the City
  • Suspended the rules and passed unanimously on its 1st reading Ordinance 16-15 approving an amendment to the city’s existing Zoning Ordinance rezoning the following properties:
    • Adjacent to 10 Medical Park to Park District (PK)
    • Adjacent to 4800 48th Street to Medical Park (MP)
    • 50 acres annexed to King Ford to Community Business District (C-3)

 

Council adjourned at 6:25PM.
