June 25 City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its second regular scheduled meeting of June on Monday, June 25th, 2018, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

In the absence of Mayor Leonard Riley, Mayor Pro Tem Randall Maddux called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. The invocation was given by Councilmember Paul Story and Councilmember Jim Jones led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The June 25th financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance.................. $4,959,306.95
  • Total deposits all funds............................................ $176,504.83
  • Total expenditures all funds.................................... $254,036.84
  • Total on-hand all funds......................................... $4,881,774.94

During Citizens’ Communications Deborah Taunton addressed council on items missing after a public nuisance abatement was performed on her property.

 The following actions were taken by the city council at the June 25th meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from June 11th, 2018, council meeting
  • Accepted the June 25th financial audit report
  • Approved unanimously the following resolution on the Consent Agenda
    • Resolution 2018-102R approving the renegotiated bid from Blackwell’s Inc. of $7,300 to resurface the gym floors in the Valley Community Center

East Alabama Regional Planning & Development Commission Principal Planner Ryan Kellum gave an update on the City of Valley’s new Comprehensive Plan.

The mayor pro tem made the following announcements:

  • The next city council meeting would be July 9
  • A work session would be held on July 26 at 6PM

Council adjourned at 6:23PM.
