March 21st City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its second regular scheduled meeting of March on Thursday, March 21st, 2019, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

Mayor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. The invocation was given by Councilmember Henry Cooper and Councilmember Jimmy Gilson led the Pledge of Allegiance. All members were present.

Prior to official council business, a public hearing was held to confirm costs of clean-up at the following properties:

  • 2310 38th Blvd
  • 2408 31st Street

The March 21st financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance........................... $4,127,943.79
  • Total deposits all funds.................................................  $1,875,989.69
  • Total expenditures all funds............................................$1,654,755.87
  • Total on-hand all funds.................................................. $4,349,177.61

The following actions were taken by the city council at the March 21st meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from the March 11th council meeting
  • Accepted the March 21st financial audit report
  • Approved unanimously the following resolutions on the Consent Agenda
    • Resolution 2019-043R confirming costs of abatement on property at 1125 Foster Circle
    • Resolution 2019-044R confirming costs of abatement on property at Bennett Street
    • Resolution 2019-045R confirming costs of abatement on property at  2310 38th Boulevard
    • Resolution 2019-046R rejecting 2 bids for paving the CVRR Rails-To-Trails as being excessive
    • Resolution 2019-047R giving Parks and Recreation Director Laurie Blount permission to apply for a NRPA/Disney Play Spaces Grant
  • Passed unanimously Resolution 2019-048R accepting the negotiated quote of $330,243 from Chris Clark Grading and Paving for the paving of the CVRR Rails-To-Trails, dependent upon approval from ADECA
  • Passed unanimously Resolution 2019-049R approving the purchase of 27.608 acres of property from Wade Stuart Family Enterprises in the amount of $364,500
  • Suspended the rules and passed on its first reading, Ordinance 2019-03 agreeing to lease property on Fob James Drive to The Lamar Companies
  • Suspended the rules and passed on its first reading, Ordinance 2019-04 amending existing Ordinance 2019-08 rezoning property at 404 Blvd from C-1 Commercial to R-6 High Density Residential
  • Suspended the rules and passed on its first reading, Ordinance 2019-05 agreeing to the annexation petition  from PPBB LLC to have certain property annexed into the City of Valley
  • Suspended the rules and passed on its first reading, Ordinance 2019-06 agreeing to a property swap with the Langdale United Methodist Church

The mayor made the following announcements:

        1. The next council meeting will be April 8th at 6PM at Valley City Hall
        2. A work session will be held Thursday, April 25th at 6PM at Valley City Hall
        3. The second council meeting in April will be Monday, April 29th at 6PM at Valley City Hall

Council adjourned at 6:23PM.
