November 27th City Council Meeting

The Valley City Council held its second regular scheduled meeting of November on Monday, November 27th, 2017, in the Council Chambers at Valley City Hall.

Mayor Leonard Riley called the meeting to order at 6:00PM. The invocation was given by Councilmember Jimmy Gilson and Councilmember Paul Story led the Pledge of Allegiance.

All members were present.

The November 27th financial audit report for the city was given as follows:

  • Checking account previous balance.................. $5,526,791.17
  • Total deposits all funds............................................ $236,021.70
  • Total expenditures all funds.................................... $254,446.41
  • Total on-hand all funds......................................... $5,508,366.56

The following actions were taken by the city council at the November 27th meeting:

  • Approved the minutes from the November 13th, 2017, council meeting
  • Accepted the November 27th financial audit report
  • Approved unanimously the following resolution on the Consent Agenda
    • Resolution 17-151R approving the public consumption of alcohol at an event to be held at the Valley Community Center on December 16th, 2017
  • Approved Resolution 17-152R by a 7-1 vote - Councilmember Jones voted no and Mayor Riley voted yes. The resolution would delegate authority to the Mayor, on behalf of the City, to enter into any agreement with prospective businesses or their agents interested in the Valley Industrial Park to allow reasonable access, for the purpose of evaluation and testing, to the Valley Industrial Park property
  • Suspended the rules and adopted on its first reading Ordinance 17-15 amending the City’s Business License Ordinance concerning municipal delivery licenses

Mayor Riley made the following announcements:

  • December Council Meetings will be December 11th and 18th
  • The City’s Christmas Tree Lighting would be held at City Hall after the council meeting adjourned

The council meeting adjourned at 6:15PM.
