Special Events

Clean Up Valley Week

Held the first of April, Clean Up Valley Week gives the citizens of Valley an opportunity to get rid of unwanted items. Extra garbage trucks are on the streets for two weeks picking up household items and yard debris. Public Works is also on hand at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion for items that cannot be picked up by the garbage trucks as well as a Shredder Truck for personal papers. Groups are invited on Saturday morning to come and help us clean up our roadways of trash. Working together can make the City of Valley a clean place to live.

Christmas In Valley

The Christmas Merry Go Round began in 1956 as a gift from West Point Pepperell Mill Company and has continued as a favorite Valley tradition. The opening of the Merry Go Round signals the beginning of the Christmas season in Valley with over 3 million people, young and old, having enjoyed the ride throughout the years. Other historical Christmas favorites include a life size Manger Scene, which was donated by the Valley Kiwanis in 1948, and a lighted Madonna which has watched over the city since 1961. Our Christmas Merry Go Round and special decorations are located along US Hwy 29 between 59th Street and 65th Street.

Historic Langdale Mill Farmer’s Market

Held every Friday, 3pm – 6pm EST from May to August/September the Market has five to ten farmers weekly selling fresh produce, fruits, cakes, pies, breads, jams, jellies, and fresh eggs. Special events at the market include Free Tomato Sandwich Day and Free Slice of Watermelon Day.
