Climate

The climate in Valley is moderate, with four seasons. The winters are mild however, there can be weeks of cold temperatures and an occasional snow fall. The summers are hot, with temperatures sometimes reaching the high 90’s. Because Valley is situated in a valley the humidity tends to be high, making the summers feel even hotter.

Cost of Living

Valley has no property tax, however there is a county property tax. This helps keep the property values affordable. There are houses available for everyone’s budget, from historical mill houses to new construction. There are also several apartment complexes in the city limits.

County Library

The county library, H. Grady Bradshaw Chambers County Library, is in Valley and has a variety of books, magazines, newspapers, and more. The Cobb Memorial Archives, a comprehensive collection point for the history of Chambers County is housed in the library as well. Recreation

The Valley Recreation Department oversees the recreation activities and the parks in Valley. The Valley Community Center has an indoor pool, indoor walking track, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and two fitness rooms. There is also a variety of fitness classes offered including classes specifically for seniors. Membership plans that are available through specific insurances include Silver Sneakers, Optum Health/Renew Active, and Silver and Fit which provide free or discounted memberships. Rails to Trails is a 7-mile trail connecting all four mill towns over what used to be the railroad tracks. The trail is frequented by walkers and runners alike. There is also a 1-mile trail loop at Shawmut Airport, a park located along the Chattahoochee River. More Information

Thirty minutes from Valley there are several golf courses: two courses at Callaway Gardens and a Robert Trent Jones Course in Auburn. Point University also owns a golf course in Lanett, AL that is open to the public.
